It's faster to take Interstate 88 West to the QC but, it is a toll road for part of the trip. It cuts about an hour off the trip and easier to get to from O'hare Airport. I-80 is way South of the Airport and you'll spend a couple hours snarlled up in traffic. Then get on I-80 West and go to Iowa City/ Coralville and get on I-380 North straight to Waterloo.
So your saying its a 6-7 hour drive depending on the traffic in Chicago? I've never been there so I am relying on internet estimates. In that case we don't need to arrive in Chicago until the 6th.

Mabie Dano should terminate in Chicago and save some money and jump in with Mrs Ober and I.

:bowty: Yes sir. I used to work in Chicago for the Central Illinois Railway and our yard was just to the west of O'Hare airport. Drove it twice a week, Monday morning and Friday night. About 3 hours going I-88 to get home. It was 4+ hours taking I-80. I'll call ya and fill you in.

I'd consider this, but I wasn't sure if I'd have an extra day to take for time-off. plus another motel room would be about the same cost whether I flew into waterloo, or drove from Chicago.

We were only going to do an overnight because we taught it was a 8 - 10 hour drive. It would likely to get the timing right to meet up anyways.

Gunther was turned down at the border so its just the lovely Mrs Ober and myself.

Plane tickets are booked and paid for, car rental booked and the room at the luxurious Clarion Inn has been booked. There is no backing out now. Mrs Ober has her shopping and casino shoes packed and ready to go.

We should arrive at the Clarion Inn around 6:00pm on the 6th
