What Units do you consider essential when playing Russia?

What Units do you consider essential when playing The Soviets?

So what units seem to creep into all your Soviet armies? They do not have to be your favorites, they might just have a cool paint job or be a well done sculpt. List any number of units and I will compile a list with rankings in this post periodically. In the end I hope to determine what the most played units are.

We will examine all the Major nations.

37mm M1939 AA Gun (or more commonly known in AAM as 40mm Bofors L60)
Mosin-Nagant 1891/30
Commissar
Red Army FO
82mm PM-37 Mortar

Yeah, I sort of cheated. ;) But it's been a house rule for a long time to let the Soviets use the Bofors. Even with the release of the 85mm AA Gun, I still prefer the lighter AA gun.

Commissar
infantry?????
Maxim M1910 MG
76.2mm Model 1942

I haven't played much lately - the guards infantry unit looks like it might be a candidate.

Most of us choose the T34/76 and I agree it is a good tank. Personally I added the SU-76m because they make good cheap swarm tanks even though they have no turret. You get pretty good bang for your buck with the SU-85 TD that RvM choose.

The guards Infantry are my new favorite Russian soldiers to use. The Siberian Shock Troops are good to but I prefer the guards Infantry. You will like them in a mix with PPsh and Soviet Grenaders.

Honestly they are too expensive 28 points - you get a KV-1 for 4 points more a- and the latter is the better tank. especially with 9/9/7 vs infantry.

T-34/76 is one of the worst costed tanks in the game
