Bolt Action, any opinions?

Unread post by martin » Thu Feb 19, 2015 1:14 am

I have not played it, but in my local area there are a coupe people that have the rules and are looking to play. How is it, in your opinion? Compare it to Flames of War, if you want, but I have only played that once and barely remember what I was doing. :)

Sorry I do not know Bolt Action per se, but I know that periodically when some new goodie-illustrated book gets published for FoW/Bolt Action I get urge to try it and order rules... Then I spend two days re-reading reviews again and again and give up :D Rinse/repeat. For now I have settled with free simple Hail of Fire which you can finish a game or two in an evening, and didn't look back http://www.retroboom.com/hail-of-fire.html

I like it as rules are lightweight and let you concentrate on tactics. Also easy to modify - I have decreased saves by 1 so game can be finished in two hours, and is more deadly.

And buildings are my first encounter with a foamcore.. finally found out who sells them in my country :D
