here's a very cheap way to make your own hex frame. This could be used for several other applications as well. I should be making a mold for these, but this is the next best thing. I'll cut strips of styrene to fit a hex plus a little extra on the tail end. I'll tack glue the styrene to the paper, and the next leg of the hex. You can have a bit extra on each leg until you get to the end of the hex. You'll need to make a close to exact cut for the last piece. I'll then take several smaller cuts to reinforce each corner...about three deep to reinforce the corners. I'll remove the frame from the paper, sand the bottom smooth, and use to make the hexes for the Monte Casino hexes. I use hydrostone for the base, and top it with some sculptamold. The sculptamold is very useful, and somewhat easy to form. You won't get a lot of detail out of it, but it will look nice.
