Boulders in the works!

Unread post by dano903 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 6:37 am

these are made from a can of expanding foam! WHAT A MESS, but I think they came out okay. Once the foam has dried...I used a utility knife to damage the foam. Once satisfied with the damage...I used a black paint/water/wood glue mixture to black wash them. The surface is somewhat smooth, and just after washing them...I sprinkle some sand on them. Once completely dried... DRY BRUSHING!!! dark brown, light brown, suede, desert sand, buttermilk, etc. about 6 different layers of paint to highlight the features of the rock. After that...flock!

Interesting rocks, kind of have a sci-fi or alien look about them.

Nice idea... but drybrushing and flocking are awesome! Really convincing, must try that myself... Thumbs up!

Yea they are pretty nice. They look like volcanic rocks.
