Kfz 251/7 D Poineer half track

Unread post by FieldMarshall Ober » Fri Jan 25, 2013 4:35 pm

Here is a card for an Kfz 251 Pioneer engineering/bridging halftrack. I kept it pretty basic and tried to stick as close to existing SA's as I could. This unit needs a Pioneer rider to be an engineering unit, otherwise its a halftrack with a Pak 35.

I like the idear, but think it's to expensive!
If the pioneer is included the price is right (Kfz 251 = 7 + pioneer = 7) and since it can only bridge while together the price would be fair.

Cool idea. If I had pioneers, I would want it for historical scenarios. It could also take on light tanks.

Thanks for the input. Its not as simple as a half track and a Pioneer. It gives Pioneers the ability to get on and off the 251 in the movement phase with my "Mechanized Pioneer" SA. It can also build bridges with a simple roll. The MG42 is swapped out for a Pak 35 gives it a lot more fire power. I should of explained my costing formula so you could see where the price came from.

Kfz 251 - 7 pts
Less MG42 - -1 pt
Add Pak 35 - 5 Pts
Add Mechanized - 1 pt
Add Bridging - 3 pts
----------------------------
Total - 15 pts

Add a Pioneer - 7 pts
----------------------------
Final Total - 22 pts

I'm not a pioneer, but by Danish standards this type of unit would rather have the MG42 as own force protection.
If they historically had a heavy armerment, I see the need for the PAK, but if not, I'd loose it iot keep costs down.

I think this would add up to a cost of 18 pts with the pioneer and I'd make them a pair that comes together.

Compared to the AVRE at 25 points this unit is far more maneuverable and faster. I dropped the high gear due to the extra weight of the Pak 35 and the Bridge equipment but it still moves a speed of four. It can also drop-off a Pioneer if it is necessary. Basicly its a historical representation of a German AVRE of the period. Those who don't need the Pak and a bridge can haul their Pioneers in a Kubelwagen for 10 points, its your choice.

It is less expensive comapred tho the AVRE. I would choose this over kubelwagon because this has attack value, better defense, and some nice SA's.

Its likely more of a scenario piece because its so specialized. I really like the Pak 35 mounted on the half track, gives it firepower, mobility and transport for a soldier.
